I don't think that any one thing in this campaign can be called "the" turning point, but I believe that picture and Powell's statement on Meet the Press may very well be a turning point in finally recognizing that Moslem Americans are Americans too.
I only hope some artist can take that picture, or perhaps tne New Yorker picture with Khan's mother, into a work of art, although maybe the photos are work of art enough.
